Breweries and Distilleries have become more than just production facilities, they are also retail and consumption venues.
Their floors not only need to work hard, they also need to look good doing it. As more and more operations have these multiple needs, flooring has to be part of the total process of doing business.
Breweries, and distilleries (including wine-making operations) are now built to have charm as well as products. Both sides of the business have to be aesthetically appealing and efficient while providing durability against constant cleaning and thermal shock.
Production Area Concerns come from having large, very expensive pieces of equipment that have to be productive at all times. We understand that the brewing and distilling industry uses an impressive display of stainless steel, brass or copper tanks and complex equipment to make the alcoholic beverages that are so popular. The appearance of a beautiful, tough resinous coated floor is not only functional but also adds to the impressive visual display of your facility.
Hygiene needs to be impeccable to allow for distilling processes to work correctly. There is also a need for cleanliness, both in terms of not disturbing the processes involved in fermentation and facilitating the packaging and distribution, but also finished product.
This is also a significant question for the “retail” side of the business where patrons can enjoy the working area while consuming the product in very plush, shiny surroundings.
Urethane Cement Coatings handle the safety/sanitation needs AND allow for efficient cleanup. The seamless finish provides resistance to stains and spills along with the inherent ability to help eliminate areas where bacteria and dirt can lodge.
In addition to producing a stain-resistant surface and being easy to clean, a urethane cement floors can handle all sanitary concerns because of its unique ability to eliminate surface flaws wheres organism and debris can harbor.
In terms of fulfilling production needs, urethane cement is tough, durable, slip resistant and can resist thermal shock – the damage done to other floors during the frequent shift from red hot to cold temperature which are part of the process of making alcoholic beverages. Its slip-resistance also makes the workplace safer. Ultimately, this helps with health and safety inspection concerns along with minimizing the risk of injured employees.
It’s easy for a well-designed epoxy flooring system to provide a delightful sipping and dining spot for retail patrons that is attractive, given the tailored/aesthetic surface that finished coating installations have. A vast array of colors and designs can be custom tailored to help create an impressive gathering place.
Columbus Epoxy Flooring's expert installation crews begin with an inspection to ensure that are there no issues with the installation process. Once that inspection has been successfully completed, the actual work will be scheduled to meet customer mobilization needs.
Any quality installation must begin with proper floor preparation by mechanically diamond grinding or shot blasting prior to the coating process. After a floor is properly prepared, a multiple coating process is conducted, often involving the use of a urethane cement, silica broadcast and urethane top-coat.
A regular cleaning process should then be developed and maintained without the complex nature of many flooring alternatives such as quarry tile (no need to worry about grout lines).
